ViraClean-60 Virus Particle Disinfectant  Runs Automatically

Simple and easy to use, ViraClean-60 is the perfect equipment for homeowners and businesses to destroy-inactivate virus particles brought in from the outside. With the push of a button the equipment runs automatically, purifying for 1 hour. During the treatment period it runs unattended, oxidizing flu, common cold, and other virus shed infectious particles using clean ozone made by the unit and powerful hydroxyl radicals produced inside, and ultraviolet germicidal irradiation produced inside.

What It Does   VC-60 is a premiere disinfectant that generates temporary clean ozone to oxidize viruses. It is also effective against other microorganisms because when they repel from the oxidant they are sucked into the unit and destroyed by the powerful hydroxyl field and germicidal irradiation inside. (The cleaning technologies attack organic molecules, including living cells, so the treatment area must be  unoccupied while it cleans.)

Regulatory  ViraClean is a general use disinfectant. There are numerous published research reports confirming that ozone gas, hydroxyl radicals, and ultraviolet germicidal radiation will destroy or irreversibly inactivate virus particles on inanimate hard surfaces and objects when applied in an unoccupied treatment area.  However, application for Disinfectant Classification of VC-60 to the EPA is still in process although the manufacturer is a registered pesticide device-producing establishment with the EPA.

How It Works No truly effective antibiotic medicine against viruses has been discovered yet. Viruses are small, independent particles, built of crystals and macromolecules. Unlike bacteria, they multiply only within the host cell. Viruses have no protections against oxidative stress. Normal mammalian cells, on the other hand possess complex systems of enzymes (i.e., superoxide dismutase, catalase, peroxidase), which tend to ward off the powerful effects of free radical species and oxidative challenge.

Disinfection by ozone occurs through rupture of the pathogen’s enclosing wall. An ozone level of 0.4 ppm for 4 minutes has been shown to destroy any virus, bacteria, mold and fungus. Ozone will inactivate viruses on contact, even at low residual concentrations. In case of polio, only 0.012 ppm removes all virus particles in less than 10 seconds.

Most research efforts on ozone's virucidal effects have centered upon ozone's propensity to break apart lipid molecules at sites of multiple bond configuration. Once the lipid envelope of the virus is fragmented, its DNA or RNA core cannot survive. Aside from its well-recognized action upon unsaturated lipids, ozone can also interact with certain proteins and their constituents, namely amino acids. Indeed, when ozone comes in contact with capsid proteins, protein hydroxides, protein hydroxides and protein hydroperoxides are formed. Ozone destroys viruses by diffusing through the protein coat into the nucleic acid core, resulting in damage of the viral RNA. At higher concentrations, ozone even destroys the capsid or exterior protein shell by oxidation.

Numerous families of viruses including poliovirus I and 2, human rotavruses, Norwalk virus, Parvoviruses, and Hepatitis A, B and non-A non-B?, among many others, are susceptible to the virucidal actions of ozone. Non-enveloped viruses (Adenoviridae, Picornaviridae, namely poliovirus, Coxsachie, Echovirus, Rhinovirus, Hepatitis A and E, and Reoviridae (Rotavirus), have also begun to be studied. Viruses that do not have an envelope are called "naked viruses." They are constituted of a nucleic acid core (made of DNA or RNA) and a nucleic acid coat, or capsid, made of protein.

VC-60 generates clean ozone for disinfection of viruses on any inanimate hard surface or object. In a cubic meter test chamber the VC-60 generates a clean ozone concentration of 100 parts-per-million in the first 14 minutes of timed operation. (See test results image.) It DOES NOT require drying of input air like small, spark gap ozone devices that also generate caustic nitrogen dioxide and nitric acid in moist air.  VC-60 works well in moist (water damage) places, and Does Not require their periodic “plate cleaning” so essential for basic ozone devices. No residue of the destroyed contaminants from VC-60 purification is visible afterward.

The technologies in VC-60 also works well on bacteria and fungi. Antipathogenic ozone is used for disinfecting municipal water supplies in cities worldwide, and the VC-60’s hydroxyl radical cloud will dismantle any other microorganism. The VC-60 rids rooms and vehicles of mildew and occupancy odors from perspiration, children, pets, and chemical smells.  It can be used with fixed property to remove surface mold and mildew caused by water leaks and flooding, or with automobiles, trucks, and RV’s to remove occupancy odors including portable toilet smells.  The VC-60 uses ultraviolet radiation (UVC) to generate its hydroxyl radicals. UVC alone is an excellent line-of-sight disinfectant technology that degrades the RNA and DNA of pathogens passing through its strong photoelectric field, destroying their ability to replicate.

Operating - Simple To Use
The VC-60 is typically placed in an unoccupied closed room or vehicle to be treated and is connected to mains AC power. When the 1 hour ON button is pushed it runs automatically for 60 minutes, going through its timed cycle unattended, automatically shutting off after 1 hour (unless it’s switched off earlier).
Treated premises can be reoccupied soon afterward because during the last ten minutes it neutralizes any ozone remaining in the treatment area.

Included with the unit is a five foot hose and fitting that can be temporarily attached to either the input or output ports for access to difficult-to-reach areas.

Ozone-Free Option

The VC-60 is available at the same price in an Ozone-Free model that can be safely used while the treatment area is occupied. (Simply check the "Ozone Free" box when ordering.)  This model does not generate clean ozone and only disinfects airborne virus particles circulating in the treatment area air as they are sucked into the unit.  This model uses safe ultraviolet germicidal radiation, that does not produce ozone, to irreversibly inactivate suspended virus particles as they flow through the VC-60.
